I have been a police officer for seventeen years, starting with the San Jose Police Department and then becoming a Medford Police Officer. After eight years of patrol I became a School Resource Officer, and for the past nine years I have worked with South Medford High School in Medford, Oregon. I served as OSROA’s Region 3 Representative for two years prior to being elected president. Besides this position, I am a Practitioner with the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) and I also served as the inaugural president of the Medford Police Officers Association (MPOA).
OSROA’s Mission Statement says we are, “Dedicated professionals committed to providing service, training, and support to our school communities by fostering a safe, secure, and healthy learning environment for our youth.” During my years on this board I have seen that this is precisely what OSROA has been. As president, I make it my priority to ensure that OSROA continues to offer the highest quality training, stays financially solvent and remains the go to school law reference for SRO’s and educators in Oregon.
I truly believe that the training, discussions and connections that happen during our conferences improve communication between educators and law enforcement officers, ultimately resulting in safer schools and safer kids. It is my honor and privilege to serve the men and women of OSROA. I hope that you will take some time to peruse our website and consider attending our annual School Safety Conference. If you have any questions or comments for me, please feel free to send an email on the “Contact” tab, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
