Your OSROA board is hard at work planning the 2018 School Safety Conference. Here’s what we can tell you right now (and by “right now” we mean as of 1/16/18)…
Location: We will be back at the Salishan Resort. This has been our home for the past couple of conferences and our folks overwhelmingly expressed that they wanted to go back there again. The resort is under new ownership/management and we are excited about their commitment to providing improved service to their guests.
Date and Time: As usual, the conference will begin the last Sunday in July. This year it’s July 29th through August 1st. We always get a few requests to move the conference up a week or two… and a few requests to move it back a week or two… but this seems to be the best time to attract as many educators and school administrators as possible before they kick back into high gear during August.
What’s the Same: The schedule and format will be similar to what we’ve done in the past:
What’s Different: The big change for 2018 is that Tuesday will be all breakout sessions. We will soon be releasing additional information regarding the breakout format.
Keynote Speaker Announcement: Our Monday Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Joe Hendershott. His presentation will be called Hope 4 The Wounded and it will be incredible. Joe is an amazing speaker and he will equip attendees – SRO’s and educators alike – to go back and start helping wounded students immediately. OSROA is very excited to welcome Dr. Hendershott to the Oregon Coast!
Conference Pricing: Early bird registration for the 2018 conference will be $249 if paid by June 15, 2018. After the 15th the cost is $269.
Meals: Included in that registration fee, like last year, are five meals. OSROA will provide all conference attendees with a breakfast buffet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, as well as a plated lunch on Monday and Tuesday.
Rooms at Salishan: Room prices are almost identical to last year. These prices do no include tax. We are happy to report that Salishan has again waived the nightly resort fee.
Registration and Room Reservations: OSROA will open up registration very soon. We will also provide a code to enter on Salishan’s website to make sure you get our special room rates. If you just HAVE to reserve that room before we make that announcement, don’t do it online. Call Salishan and do it over the phone. If the person who answers doesn’t know what you’re talking about… well, you should have waited until we said it was OK.
More speaker announcements are on the way… so STAY TUNED!
