A Message from the President

Action Jackson crop

Thanks for checking out our website! I have been a police officer for nineteen years, starting with the San Jose Police Department and then becoming a Medford Police Officer. After eight years of patrol I became a School Resource Officer, and for eleven years I have worked with South Medford High School. I served as OSROA’s Region 3 Representative for two years prior to being elected president. I am also a Practitioner with the National Association of School Resource Officers.

2016 was a banner year for OSROA. We saw a record number of attendees at our school safety conference, but what was truly exciting to me was the number of non-sworn attendees. Our conference has always been a draw for SRO’s and other law enforcement officers, but our goal has been to attract more educators and school administrators. There are a lot more principals, assistant principals, deans, school security officers, disciplinarians and campus monitors than there are SRO’s. Whether or not there is an SRO assigned to your school, our conference offers practical information that you can take back to your school staff and implement to make your campus a safer place.

In 2016 we has almost as many non-sworn folks as sworn officers. Our goal for 2017 is a lofty one: We want to see more educators, school admins and other non-sworn people than SRO’s! If your job has anything to do with school safety, this conference is for you. Come out to the coast in 2017 and I promise the training we present will be worth your while.

As president, I make it my priority to ensure that OSROA continues to offer the highest quality training, stays financially solvent and remains the go-to school law reference for SRO’s and educators in Oregon. It is my honor and privilege to serve the men and women of OSROA and I hope that you will take some time to peruse our website and learn about us. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send an email to or send me a message on my “Officer Jackson” Facebook page and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

God Bless,

Mike Jackson
OSROA President
