OSROA is pleased to announce that registration for our 2017 School Safety Conference is OPEN. The conference runs July 30 – August 2, 2017 at Salishan Golf and Spa Resort on the beautiful Oregon Coast.
Conference planning is still underway, but we’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Bernard James will be our keynote speaker this year. Bernie teaches courses in Civil Rights, Federalism, Individual Rights, First Amendment, Education Law and State Constitutional Law. He joined the Pepperdine University faculty in 1984 and he specializes in constitutional matters, serving as the First Amendment Contributing Editor on the ABA Preview Journal, which reviews the cases of the United States Supreme Court. He is also serves as a contributor and editor to the NASRO Journal of School Safety. We are very excited to host Bernie this year!
The conference schedule will be similar to what we’ve done in the past: Start on Sunday evening, all day Monday, most of Tuesday (done at 3pm to enjoy the area) and then done by lunchtime on Wednesday. The Hospitality Suite will of course be open every night. Check here for additional conference updates.
We reserved more rooms at Salishan this year, but they will likely sell out again so be sure to make your reservations early. Traditional Rooms stay at the GSA Per Diem rate, which this year is $130/night. The larger Deluxe Rooms are $169/night and Premier Rooms are $209/night. These rates are good 2 days before or after the conference dates.
The registration fee is $225. Our pricing has always included two catered lunches on Monday and Tuesday. For 2017 we have added a daily breakfast buffet Monday through Wednesday. All you have to worry about is dinner.
Last year was the first time OSROA was able to offer our conference as a 3-credit elective class for a Masters of Education degree or Administrator Licensure. Details are still being finalized, but we are planning on doing this again.
Time to register. We’ll see you at Salishan!
